Case Study: Machinery & Agricultural Parts Coating Line, Jiangsu
Summary
A machinery-scale coating line for a maker of construction machinery and agricultural equipment parts in Jiangsu, with pretreatment for heavy steel, spray booths, a curing oven with a platform-mounted burner sized for thick plate, a conveyor system and exhaust treatment. Oven heating and conveyor speed were matched so thick sections reach full cure temperature through the metal, not only at the surface. The line is in regular production in 2026.
Project Background
The client makes parts for construction machinery and agricultural equipment in Jiangsu.
The Challenge
Machinery for construction sites and farms works outdoors, in mud, water and fertiliser. The finish has to protect heavy steel parts for years, and the line has to handle thick plate that takes longer to heat through in the oven.
MUSI's Solution
MUSI supplied a machinery-scale line with pretreatment, spray booths and a curing oven sized for heavy plate. The oven heating and conveyor speed were matched so thick parts reach full cure temperature, not just the surface.

Equipment Scope
- Pretreatment line for heavy steel parts
- Spray booths
- Curing oven with platform-mounted burner
- Conveyor system
- Exhaust treatment
Results
The line is in regular production for the client’s construction and agricultural machinery parts.
Selection logic: why this configuration
The oven was sized for heat-through of thick plate rather than for surface temperature because agricultural and construction parts fail in service when the coating on heavy sections is under-cured. A platform-mounted burner was specified for maintenance access, and conveyor speed was fixed from the heaviest part's heat-up time rather than from the booth.

Services included with every line: engineering design, manufacturing, shipping documentation, installation supervision, commissioning, operator training, warranty and spare parts.
Typical programme
The durations below are typical for equipment of this class and are given for planning; they are not the recorded schedule of this project. A complete line usually runs 90–180 days from contract to acceptance, a single unit 30–60 days.
| Stage | Typical duration | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Site survey and workpiece review | 5–10 days | Remote review of drawings and photos, or an engineer visit |
| Layout and detail design | 15–30 days | Layout drawing, utilities list and specification sign-off |
| Manufacturing | 45–90 days | Booths, ovens, conveyor, pretreatment and controls built and pre-assembled at the works |
| Shipping | 20–45 days | Sea freight; equipment shipped in sections for on-site assembly |
| Installation | 15–40 days | MUSI supervision with the client's installation crew or MUSI crew |
| Commissioning, training and acceptance | 7–15 days | Trial runs on the client's parts, operator training, acceptance record |
Applicability and limits
The oven sizing here is specific to the plate thickness of this client's parts; thinner fabrications cure faster and lighter ovens suffice. Parts that work in fertiliser or salt environments may also need a specified primer system, which is set by the coating supplier's data sheet.
Results shown in this case study reflect the stated operating conditions and should not be interpreted as guaranteed performance under different feed, production, environmental, or site conditions.
After-sales and spare parts
Warranty on a MUSI coating line runs from acceptance: 12 months on the complete line excluding consumables, 36 months on critical components such as motors, drives and the PLC, and 60 months on structural parts such as steel structure, ducting and oven bodies. Failures within warranty, excluding misuse, are repaired free of charge.
Support starts remotely: the service line is staffed around the clock, a preliminary diagnosis with recommendations is given within 2 hours, and where a site visit is needed an engineer reaches any major city within 72 hours. A spare-parts inventory is held at the Changzhou headquarters with same-day shipping, and customers can keep a dedicated parts stock at MUSI for emergencies. Details are on the after-sales service page.
FAQ
How do you make sure thick steel parts cure fully? By sizing the oven and conveyor speed from the time the heaviest section takes to reach cure temperature, checked with thermocouples on the part, not the oven air.
What protection do farm and construction parts need? A coating system rated for mud, water and fertiliser exposure over years; the line applies whatever system the specification names, with pretreatment sized for heavy steel.
Why mount the burner on a platform? For safe access to the burner, gas train and controls during maintenance without stopping the conveyor below.
Can the line take both construction and agricultural parts? Yes; both families are heavy welded steel with similar coating requirements and share the pretreatment, booths and oven.
Is the line running? Yes, in regular production for the client's machinery parts.
Next step: a configuration proposal for a similar line
If your parts, volumes or plant conditions are close to this project, MUSI can return a line configuration and layout proposal. To prepare it we need four things:
- Photos and dimensions of the workpieces, with weight and material
- Required output (pieces per hour or per day, and shifts)
- Number of colours and how often colour changes are needed
- Available floor space and ceiling height, with the utilities on site
