Premium Powder Coating System for Appliance OEM
Project Background
The client is a top-10 kitchen appliance brand in Mexico supplying Walmart, Costco, and Home Depot in North America. Their new capacity expansion required a dedicated coating line for kitchen appliance shells (range hood housings, sterilizer doors). The film had to pass 1,000-hour neutral salt spray and 240-hour humid heat cycle tests.
The Challenge
Kitchen appliances demand the highest visual quality standards — color uniformity, smoothness, anti-fingerprint, temperature variation resistance. The client is in northern Mexico's high-heat dry climate, requiring corrosion-resistant equipment construction.
MUSI's Solution
MUSI proposed a floor belt automatic powder coating solution paired with high-quality electrostatic powder guns (matching Swiss GEMA grade) and precise temperature-control ovens. Pretreatment uses 6-station spray (degrease-rinse-conditioning-phosphate-rinse-DI rinse) for excellent coating adhesion.

Implementation
Project ran in two phases: Phase 1 — pretreatment + spray + curing main line (70 days); Phase 2 — auto inspection + packaging unload (30 days). MUSI engineers worked closely with the client's process, equipment, and production departments — completed in 100 days total.
Results
After commissioning, salt spray testing reached 1,200 hours (target 1,000 h), humid heat testing 360 hours flawless (target 240 h). All metrics exceeded client expectations. The client has scheduled a second identical line for 2025.
